Campaign Story

Maggie Oliver is best known as the Detective-turned-Whistleblower who resigned from Greater Manchester Police in 2012 in order to expose the now infamous Rochdale Grooming Scandal.

The Maggie Oliver Foundation has grown dramatically since its launch in July 2019. We have now been awarded funding from the National Lottery to set us on our way and have received very generous donations from members of the public. Your support for our appeal will allow us to launch our UK wide “Pain Into Power” helpline to give support and guidance to adult survivors of childhood sexual exploitation and abuse including those who are isolated, alone and in danger right now, even as you read this appeal.

Please read the “Survivor Stories” on our website (CLICK HERE) and find out all about The Foundation and the important work that we are carrying out on a daily basis.

We now have a fabulous Board of Trustees who come from diverse backgrounds and bring a wide range of skills and experience to our expanding team. We also have a growing army of 25 volunteers, who we call Ambassadors each of whom share our vision and our values. Without these Ambassadors the Foundation and its Trustees would not be able to deliver the service so desparately needed by so many survivors who have nowhere else to turn.

So this crowdfunding appeal will help us to grow and fund:

Training – which is so vital to enable the Ambassadors to meet the daily demands of the many desparate survivors who turn to the Foundation for help and support.

IT Systems – to allow the Foundation and the Ambassadors to effectively manage and record all actions taken by our trained and accredited Ambassadors. These systems will also assist us in our role exposing systemic failures of the statutory authorities to protect victims of childhood sexual abuse and to hold their abusers criminally to account.

National “Pain into Power” Phone Support Service – funds raised through our appeal will allow us to expand and improve the existing phone support that we provide to survivors.  As the demand for our service has grown over recent months, it has become abundantly clear that our service must expand to keep up and hence we now need your donations to ensure that every survivor that contacts us is helped individually along their own personal journey to full recovery.

Our website articles illustrate some of the many injustices suffered by survivors and the lack of support even when they have given evidence in court is truly shocking. We are now there to help.

The Maggie Oliver Foundation thanks you for reading this appeal, and hopes you can find it in your heart to help us to help survivors of childhood sexual abuse and childhood sexual exploitation.

IT’S ABOUT LISTENING.

IT’S ABOUT SEEING.

IT’S ABOUT DOING.

Contacting The Maggie Oliver Foundation was one of the best decisions I have ever made and from that day I have been given amazing, kind and top class support. I have been made to feel important, understood and cared for. I have found that Maggie, and all who work with Maggie at the Foundation, go above and beyond to help survivors, and nothing is too much to ask of them.”
